    This a first for me.

I have a project that is shot mostly with SDX and HVX was used as a second camera in DV50. It cuts in really nicely by the way. Perfect second cam. Anyway, I have media managed my sequences to 8 bit and everything recaptures from tape exactly as it should. I am now wondering what to do with the HVX material. I have reconnected the ones that will allow me to reconnect, but if a shot is used twice, then it has a different name. For example: if shot 0001DK is used twice in the timeline, the first instance comes up as ‘0001DK.mov’, but the second instance comes up as ‘0001DK.mov 1’. My workaround has been to go into each and every instance that the clip is used in the timeline and remove the extraneous number (the 1 after the .mov extension) in the item properties and then reconnect to the original clip and render the clip to 8 bit. This works, but it is extremely step intensive and time consuming. Is there a better way? I know some would say to just render the entire sequence to 8 bit and save the hassle, but it’s not the way we do things around here. We recapture.

    Thanks in advance.

    Recompress the sequence to 8bit.

Delete all of the tape media and recapture it.

The P2 Media will be fine because it has been recompressed.
