  • One colour showing in B&W

    Hi All,
Can anyone please tell me how to have one principal colour showing whilst playing in B&W. I edit in Vegas Pro 9e. As I do weddings my idea is to have a black and white portion showing the bride’s dress in colour.

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Tks

Isn’t the brides dress usually white? How would that differ from the B&W? I would have her skin or flowers be in color since that will have more of an impact. Anyway…

You want to use the secondary color corrector which is called Sony Color Corrector (Secondary) in Vegas. Here’s what you do:

    1. Drop the Color Corrector (Secondary) on the event
    2. Use the Select effect range eye dropper to select the color that you want to keep. I would select the flowers or skin tones.
    3. Use the Show mask option to see what will be affected and fine tune with the luminance, saturation, and hue sliders if needed.
    4. Then uncheck show mask and check Invert mask. This will select everything except the area you just selected.
    5. Finally, set the Saturation slider all the way left to zero (0.000)

You should now have the entire frame in B&W (desaturated) with only the area you selected with the eye dropper in color. This is also referred top as the “Pleasantville” look after the movie with the same name that made this popular.
