OMG! Sony Vegas 11 freezes when rendering everytime. The only solution is to set my dynamic ram to 0?
Guys, I absolutely love Sony Vegas but now I am in a jam…starting to panic. Sony Vegas 11 freezes when rendering everytime. I read somewhere that the only solution is to set my dynamic ram to 0 – how do I do that on a PC!? Does anyone know how to set dynamic RAM to 0?
I loved the previous version and wish never would have spend money to get the 11…anyways – every problem has a solution, and I need your help. Thanks.

I’m not sure where you’re getting your information, but setting your PC’s dynamic RAM to zero will guarantee a Windows crash.
Many, many questions are apparent.
Describe your system configuration, O/S and especially how much RAM and how much hard-disk?
What are you trying to render from/to?
Has this particular “Render As” worked before?
Have you installed any new hardware or software?

K, I found a fix with Vegas 11 frezing on render. Basically, don’t screw around with rendering preferences with Sony 11. Go with the presets and don’t tweek them – it works fine now for me.

Spoke too soon. Sorry….it still crashes but it did render one video for me in bwtween. crap!!! this is not good at all. will try and post system details

You don’t change DYNAMIC RAM for Vegas via Windows! you do it in the Preferences!
What codec are you rendering to? What codec are your files?
You can go to Preferences and the Video tab and lower Rendering Threads to 1 or 2 and lower Dynamic RAM down to like 32 or 64 and see if the works…

I narrowed down the problem, now it is rendering the movie shot on my Sony video cam (AVCHD.MTS files) but freezes while rendering my GoPro files (mp4 files). I am rendering both to Sony AVC and also to .mp4 formats.
I am just frustrated but trying everything. Few other things to consider is that my computer (at work) is set up thru cloud networking – tho I do render my videos on the C Drive. This should not make any difference as I was able to render the video files shot on my Sony HDR. Anyone had issues rendering GoPro files?!

I would recommend always transcoding the GoPro stuff to a more edit friendly codec before cutting. GoPro/Cineform now have a free tool just for this purpose which will create high quality Cineform .avi’s for editing in Vegas or other NLE.

K then, I have downloaded that software and am converting all the files using the software to .avi – thanks for you tip and I hope this works. Will let you guys know early next week. Thanks again

Had the same issues with h264 & transcoded neoscene files; always set dynamic ram to 0 in preferences. So far so good.

Did you ever figure out the exact problem, i have been using go pro files through sony vegas for over a year and now all of a sudden i cant render anymore, a mix of mp4 and one other file type?
