    Hi.

So does anyone know if it is possible to capture in FCP this via a Sony DSR-45A? If so, what am I doing wrong? Tried each PAL capture preset. Controls deck as usual with nada on video recognition..

    Hmm.

    Any help?

    Patty,

I’m not too familiar with this deck, but if it is like others I’ve used, you’ll need to switch the deck to read the PAL tape. One way to test whether the signal reaching FCP is good is to use an external monitor and see if video is coming through. Sounds like a deck setting is causing your hang up.

If it was shot on Canon XL-1, I don’t think that cam shot DVCAM? It was just DV as I can remember…

Anyway, for DVCAM tapes be sure to use a deck or camera that can read DVCAM, then using FCP capture preset for PAL/DV should work normally.
