Offsetting brush stroking paths

I was wondering if there was a way to offset a brush stroking a path in photoshop.
I’m looking to have a stroke follow along a created path, but only on one side instead of the brush stroking along the center of the path.For example something that would work like this:
https://i.imgur.com/RfTGZ6E.jpgI’ve tried creating an asymmetrical brush that has negative space along the bottom of the brush present but the asymmetry with not stay once the brush it created. It just crops and centers the top positive area of the brush present along the center of the path.
Please let me know if there is any way to make this work!

The simple solution would be to turn the path into a selection — or inverted selection — and then add the stroke at twice the size of what you want, which would then only draw in the selected area.
