Offset in RS-422 operation
Hi guys,
We regularly capture DigiBeta tapes to FCP through an AJA IO using RS-422 to control the DVW-500 deck. We also dump picture back to tape using the same workflow. Most of the time, everything is smooth sailing, but once in a while, with no kind of regularity, an offset seems to insert itself in the 422 messages and all operations are offset by that value. The value is not consistent either, but is usually around 4 seconds, always negative. Closing FCP and reopening it solves the problem all the time.
For captures, this is just a slight annoyance, but it could eventually cause a problem when editing to tape. Does anyone have an idea what could be causing this?

Have you re-installed your AJA drivers since the problem began? Sometimes that helps when things go out of whack.
Also, is your reference signal working properly?

Thanks for the response. I will reinstall drivers and see where that gets us.

Make sure uninstall the drivers first and make sure you’re on the latest control panel firmware (which is now part of the download for the cp).
