I have a bunch of footage shot a year ago for a client. I need to make a new spot using the original XD-CAM footage. When I originally cleaned this footage off of my hard drive I made sure to keep all the master clips. Since the original file names are the same, and all pertinent metadata remains in the master clips, what is the best way to relink the Offline Media with the source files? The “relink” function does not do it. I know I can bring the clips back in quickly via AMA but then I will feel compelled to consolidate the footage back onto my media drives and that takes too long. What do you folks recommend?

    Thanks Fellow Bovines,

    Hey Justin,
I would say consolidate the offline sequence so you just have all the clips used in the sequence you need. Then do a batch import on just those clips, you will probably have to direct it the new location where the master clips are. They will be coming in as the XDCAM 35 or 50 clip format, so depending on what your output is going to be you will probably have to transcode this now online sequence to one of the DNxHD flavors. Best of luck.
