Hello all. I’m coming from a Media Composer background so this process is confusing me a bit. I have music video footage shot on a 5D Mark II, 1920×1080, 23.976. I’m cutting on a G5 dual 2gig in FCP 6.0.6. I am wanting to multicam several clips into a rough cut but my computer does not have the power to play back the multiple angles in any kind of respectable fashion using Apple ProRes HQ.

To test how I could get better performance I used the Media Manager to transcode several clips into Apple Intermediate Codec 1080i60. Then i made a multiclip from those newly transcoded files and the playback performance was great. Now I know this is an offline codec. But with the performance boost that it provides to my limited system I would like to edit in this offline method and conform later to a higher res. Let’s say I use AIC, or some other recommended offline codec, how do I then upres the final sequence back into Apple ProRes HQ?

    Thanks Fellow Bovines,
