At work, my video footage has occasionally been moved from one server to another. This results, of course, in offline media that I need to reconnect with my Sony Vegas project. No problem, I know how to do that.

What I DON’T understand is when I come across a message such as this:

The file path shown is incomplete (circled in red in the picture above), so I don’t know which video clip is being referenced. Is there a way to fix this glitch? I have some projects with hundreds of video files, and I can’t reconnect a file to the project if I don’t even know what file Vegas is referring to. Any insights would be appreciated!

walk around that. click “ok” on search option and select the right disc/partition/whatever. it will find the right file and will reconnect the rest of medias if they are in the same folder.

    solution 2
chose “specify a new location or replacement”. this will open a dialog window. at the top of it you will see full path and name of the missing file. you probably know well where your files are so you will easily reconnect the media. after that an info pops out that other medias where found in the same folder. you can hit “apply to all” or something like that and it will reconnect all your medias. of course if you renamed media in-between… your ass is grass then. but you wouldn’t be that stupid to rename media, would you?
    🙂

You know, sometimes it’s the obvious things in life that you (i.e., I) completely overlook. Thank you so much! That is incredibly helpful.
