I am using Particular that shoots out random red or green particles and am trying to use that particle layer as a displacement map set to red and green for displacement channels. I thought this would give me a heat displacement effect but its just moving the entire frame, not scrambling the areas where the particles are.

I am confused. Can anyone give me a hand?

did you precomp the particle system (layer>pre-compose, choose to move all attributes)?

I did. I even tried precomping it with the light I am using as an emitter and the null object that I have parented the light to. The moment it precomps, it goes blank. The particles disappear.

if you open the particle precomp, are there any particles?

did you use a custom particle? and wwas that also included in the precomp?

I figured it out. I had forgotten to duplicate the camera also for the precomp. Thanks for your help anyways.
