  • occasional bug when switching timelines/loading a project – playback stops/breaks

hey all. i’m running FCPX 10.2.2 and Yosemite.

i’m experiencing this bug fairly frequently where, when i load a new project, or switch timelines (sometimes even when loading a CC as a timeline) the playback window shows a frame from a totally different part of timeline, and refuses to play. skimming disabled as well.

at first i was restarting to fix the problem. then i realized i could just switch out of the frozen timeline and FCP would resume normal functioning.

anyone else experience this ever? is this something i should worry about?

i’m editing a feature, so timeline sizes are large.

    thanks!!!!!!

Yeah, this happens to me a lot.

I can’t figure out any way around it. I thought maybe my Library size was too big at one point, but that’s not it as I reduced the size and still have the problem, although it DID diminish in frequency somewhat. I tried trashing prefs etc. etc. etc. ad naseum but no luck.

If you click directly on a clip in the timeline, everything should play normally again, but you have to do that a lot.

I’ve noticed it mostly on longer timelines (but I’m talking 45 minute assemble edits here, nothing drastic).

I guess it’s yet another annoyance in FCPX. I’ll add it to my list.
