  • obtain high uality images from .MTS video file

    Hi all!
I need to obtain a high quality image (300dpi) from a .MTS video file.
I’m trying to use VLC media player and I read i should deinterlace with Bob or Yadif2x and then take a snapshop (i usually pause the video and ake the snapshot) and then i convert the snapshot picture into a 300dpi image with Irfanwie…

any better way to obtain better results? the image still loos blurry and low quality even when i select frames with the least motion…

I would appreciate any help! im quite new in this field!
    Thanks a lot!

You will only get as big a resolution image it was captured in. For example if the video was shot in 1920×1080 that is the resolution you will have. There’s no dpi in video.

It may be interlaced but same full frame motion. also, super resolution has a plugin that compares adjacent frames to get a larger sampling of data of much higher quality resizing.

I’ve used Adobe Media Encoder to convert .mts files to prores for movie editing. No experience with AME and stills though.

If you have PPPro…use the Camera Icon in the Source Monitor or Program Monitor to Export a “frame grab”

Source Monitor exports a frame grab as per source file.
Program Monitor exports a file as per timeline – ie with FX etc…

    PNGs are best file types.

You can enhance these files a little in PhotoSHop. eg sharpening (recommended), grading etc…but they still only have a rez of the original movie “capture” eg 1080p, 720p, 2K, 4K etc…
