    Hi,

So I have a rotating earth animation. I also have individual layers of soda bottles. What I’d like to do rotate the bottles around the earth. They don’t really have to go all the way around..they need to start on the left side, rotate around while getting bigger and then getting slightly smaller they rotate around the right.

Any ideas using AE 7.0 they might help me out. 3D is not an option for me at this time. Tnanks in advance.

Well, I think the most usefull in this case is the 3D, but you don’t want it…
So you will have to animate the positon and scale to simulate a rotation,
But tell me why not to use 3D if it’s the easiest way to to it????

Just make your bottles always look at the camera and rotate them in the top view, it will surely work…

See this earlier post, read the whole thing, many suggestions):

And a standard way is to make the layers 3D (check the cube), positon the layer in the initial position, parent them to a null (rotateed in the correct plane), then rotate the null, for a perfect rotation.

You might also want to set the individual objects to be oriented towardss the camera so they always stay head-on (Helps keep the illusion of 3D)

Layer > Transform > Orient > Orient to camera
