Hi. I was wondering if it was possible to get an object (e.g. a hand holding a pen) to follow a path with a stroke effect applied to it?

    For example:

I know I can make a motion path, but what if my layer with the stroke has many masks? Since motion path only supports one mask, I can’t paste more than one mask into the object layer.

Is there a way to either join multiple paths (It’s possible to join 2 in illustrator, but I need to join more than 2, and although it’s possible to manually select them and join them, I have a lot of masks. A lot. So that isn’t a very good option for me.) or to get the object to somehow follow the stroke?

    Thanks 🙂

if i were you, i’d make a separate null object for each stroke and use the motion paths anyway. this way you could always parent your object to the nulls and use ‘write on’ to stroke the null’s path (not to mention you get to fiddle with the width of the line over time and get that varied line wieght effect 🙂
