Numbering generated media for expediency
As I am going through my clips I prefer to number them all using the generated media text tool and then render and burn a DVD to watch on the family television to then select the clips I want to keep and throw away.
One section of my film had almost 300 clips and so you can bet that was laborious labeling them all with a generated media number preview for each one!
Is there an automatic way to number generated media in Vegs? Please see the screenprint for reference. Thanks as always and I learn a ton of stuff on here!

I don’t know of a way to do this unless someone can figure out a way to script it (but I don’t think a script can populate generated media).
A question: Why not use the “m” key to place a marker between each event/clip. They are numbered in consecutive order up to 99. I understand you had 300 events on your last one- you could burn them as 4 different menu items with the first 3 menu items containing 99 events each and the fourth containing 3 events.
This may not be what you want, but it is a WHOLE lot faster than the method you are currently using and each marker will coincide with your chapter display on your DVD player.

One other idea: Make a image in your image editor of choice (preferably a png format set at 72dpi and the same resolution as your project) and number it and save it. Change the number and save. Change the number and save. Change… you get the idea.
Once you have 300 images saved you never have to do this again. Now just go into Vegas and open up the folder in the explorer tab and drag them all to the timeline. Now just place your events in between them.
