July 17, 2007 at 6:01 pmGood conversion is not cheap (the one or other way). The Alchemy is a really good hardware transcoder. If you want to do it in software you should take a look at Compressor 2.1 or later (in case you already have it). But while you may have the software which gives excellent results you will have to take some serious render times for the conversion.

July 18, 2007 at 9:18 amI’m in the same boat. Have found the Alchemist the only high quality means of transcoding high speed or busy footage. Locked off shots, or footage with little dynamic change in the frame can be encoded with other hardware which is not motion compensated. But as more facilities are now using the Alchemist, you should be able to negotiate a deal?

July 18, 2007 at 3:09 pmYeah, I got quite a good deal last year, considering the number of tapes I was converting. And it is high motion – all videogames stuff.
Will try and barter on the phones then. =P^_^ Thanks.
