now that I’ve grouped the audio with the video track…
A week ago I asked how to sync externally recorded audio with video in vegas and got the answer I needed. Thank you Mike Kujbida!
Now that I have the audio and video synced in the timeline, how do I drop that grouped media into a media bin without them “ungrouping”?
I don’t need or want all 46 takes on my timeline at once, while I’m cutting. But whenever I cut the grouped media from the time line and want to access it again the synced audio disappears.
I’m sure there’s a way to keep the audio and video synced (grouped) and to be able to put it on and take it off of the timeline as needed.
How do I do this?

Once you have your audio and video synched go to Tools-Render to new track. Make sure that anything you don’t want rendered in this file is muted and when you render it Vegas will place it video and audio on two tracks above your project, add the new file to the preject media and place it on your hard drive. The A & V will be grouped – unless you subsequently ungroup them.

Thank you. I kinda figured that but time is of the essence and rendering 40 something takes on top of syncing the audio is just not doable. What I did as a short term fix is. Group the original audio/video with the new audio. And then with all 3 tracks selected I created subclips. Granted I need to drop in 2 pieces of media for each take, but they snap together and everything is synced. Once we cut down on the clips or I have a half day to wait for Vegas to render all the clips, I’ll do it. But for now this seems to serve the purpose.
