Now I’m really stuck…..
I have been working on this project in Movie Studio HD 11 for a month. It is a coroporate event that is just over 2 hours and has video imported from YouTube, still photos, and AVCHD shot with 2 different cameras, a Canon Vixia and and a Sony HVR. I converted all video to mpeg2 for proxy editing as that is the format my computer seems to have the easiest time with. The editing is completed and I replaced the proxy mpeg2 files with .avi files. I have watched the entire project a number of times in Vegas and I am satisfied. I rendered it as a Sony AVC/MPC(mp4)1280×720-30p – took about 6 hours – and was excited to deliver it to the client.
Except….
A couple of the clips from the Sony camera, not all of them mind you just a few, rendered as a black screen. The audio is fine but the screen is black. I looked at the raw footage, the converted footage and the Project Media clips and could see nothing different from the troublesome clips. I have re-rendered it 5 times and each time the results were the same.
Can anyone help me figure out why those 3-4 clips just won’t render? If you think I am anxious, you oughta see my client!!

So the school of hard knocks wins again. Never will I try to mix 2 different file types from two cameras without some kind of synching. I was rendering to mp4 for the final project, so I replaced the ‘problem’ clips with mp4’s that I previously converted from the original AVCHD and everything worked fine. I knew something was wrong when it rendered for 26 hours. My computer usually renders at 2 to 1, not 13 to 1. So now it’s done, I’m burning copies and I can relax and just breathe….
