Now go to the Conform page timelines. Select your edited timeline and “export” XML or whatever it is that X can import.

Round tripping is covered in some detail in the new manual — especially AAF workflows.

I am finding the documentation fragmented and unclear.

I rendered the clips in the Deliver room using FCP X XML Preset.

Then returned to Conform, selected the timeline and exported XML.

FCP X does not recognize that XML.

It seemed much more straightforward in Resolve 8.

First of all the new manual is beautifully clear, concise and even poetic in some ways.
You problem is that you are using the wrong version of xml. When you chose to export xml for FCP X do use the drop down to chose “Files of type” in the menu that appears after you right click on the graded timeline and chose export in the conform page. You have to chose xml type that matches your version of FCP X. If you kept up with the upgrades it is most likely to be 1.1

Got it. Issue of importing the XML was more related to some beta software which was making X act flakey. X is now back to normal as is XML import
