Pls forgive my ignorance but I am a bit of a newbie and I am struggling with one of the tutorials.

    https://library.creativecow.net/articles/chao_joe/genie_1.php

I am trying the ‘lamp genie’ tutorial but have failed at the first step as I cant seem to get the lamp to cast a shadow. I have turned on the “cast shadows” on the light source but no shadow appears. Have I missed something or does it need to link the lamp to the light source somehow?

Pls help as this is driving me mad

    Thanks

Make sure you have the light source and lamp both set with “Cast Shadows” turned on, make sure the light transmission value for the lamp layer is 0, and make sure your floor and wall layers are both set to receive shadows.

    Thank you!

After the lamp disappearing for a while (on one of the axis) I have got it working!

    Thanks for the help
