June 9, 2011 at 1:43 pmIm sorry.. You are referring to monitoring.. My bad.. I was referring to file out in my case a quicktime render out of resolve. Just to clarify.

June 9, 2011 at 1:48 pmI actually meant that as well .
files gets render as full ,but than QT FCP and Flame displays it scaled again (even QuickTime of the file is YUV)

June 9, 2011 at 1:51 pmI think we are chasing our tails here. Im talking about the signal itself internal to the file. I.e broadcast specs. If i give say a tv station a file that may have a few issues I missed as i was grading they will kick it back. Is it always good before the final render to apply a legalizer filter in your NLE if the editor is the last one to touch it? and if you are finishing in Davinci what do you guys tend to do to maintain a double check for legality in the file itself?

June 9, 2011 at 1:55 pmI know what you mean …
TV station file delivery might be a different scenario ,
but for the app I mentioned no need to legalize the actual file ,actually if you DO ,they will scale it on top of that …not sure about TV station file delivery

June 9, 2011 at 2:14 pmDid you apply the legalyzer?
I am really not sure that the QT have to be legal (knowing that sooooo manta playback device will scale the range anyway (which will make look wrong t if is legal already )

June 9, 2011 at 8:35 pm[Gabriele Turchi] “Did you apply the legalyzer?”
No I didn’t. Which had me worried. As that is the normal workflow through the DL860 to SR. But worked out just fine with normally scaled on.

June 9, 2011 at 8:45 pmthat workflow to SR works well because you legalize on the SDI of davinci /flame/smoke/FCP when you layoff …
so it’s good keep ” scaled ” on davinci while you grade …but there are many mang variables in the middle (different scenarios)

June 10, 2011 at 4:09 pmAhh ok.. if your going out to a deck yes. What about files? Suggestions? Settings in resolve? or give the editor the file and let them do the leagal pass? NOTE: This doesn’t mean I ignore my scopes and get it as close as possible.
