  • Noob Q: Shape layer w/mystery icon after star icon

    Nooooob! alert:

I’m reverse engineering an AE project where there’s a Shape layer that is named “Compositional Thirds”, and there’s a small icon next to the star icon meaning “Shape Layer” that resembles a little # mark. Its colors resembles guides.

What is that icon indicating, and how is it invoked/dismissed?

    Thanks!

It means the layer is a guide layer-it’s there just to help you place items and it won’t render in the final. If you right click on the layer, you should see a check mark next to guides, just uncheck it and the icon will go away.
