  • No video template offered for render (export)

I’m only a sometimes user of Vegas… currently the latest version of 9 pro.

    To summarize first:
I’ve been unable to render out a section of video from 3 different files in different formats…. when I set an area to be rendered…. go to File/render I’m only offered an audio template. I see no way to export (render) the video to some format on disk.

    Details:
The first file was an *.mpg. I was surprised when Vegas even accepted the file at all… and appeared to allow me to make edits on it. Mainly cuts and adding some text.

When I went to render a piece of it, no video template is offered… only audio. Well I assumed it was due to vegas not really being able to work on *.mpg.

I’ve since converted similar *.mpg to two differenent codex inside the avi container. Both done with TEMPGenc express 4.

The first conversion I choose `microsoft 1 avi’.

I’m not sure what all is relevant in a gspot report but have included what looked right to me on both files below:

    — File Information —
    File Name: Title 1_1.avi
File Name (with full path): C:\Users\harry\Desktop\SOURCE\Title 1_1.avi
    File Size (in bytes): 2,407,554,036

    — Container Information —
    Base Type (e.g “AVI”): AVI(.AVI)
Subtype (e.g “OpenDML”): Multipart OpenDML AVI (2 parts),
    Interleave (in ms):
    Preload (in ms):
    Audio alignment(“split across interleaves”):
    Total System Bitrate (kbps): 0
    Bytes Missing (if any): 0
    Number of Audio Streams: 1

    — Video Information —
    Video Codec Type(e.g. “DIV3”): CRAM
    Video Codec Name(e.g. “DivX 3, Low-Motion”): Microsoft Video 1
Video Codec Status(e.g. “Codec Is Installed”): Codec(s) are Installed

    […] snip

The second conversion I choose Uncompressed RGB.

    Gspot has this to say:
    — File Information —
    File Name: Title 1.avi
File Name (with full path): C:\Users\harry\Desktop\SOURCETitle 1.avi
    File Size (in bytes): 22,827,201,052

    — Container Information —
    Base Type (e.g “AVI”): AVI(.AVI)
Subtype (e.g “OpenDML”): Multipart OpenDML AVI (3 parts),
    Interleave (in ms):
    Preload (in ms):
    Audio alignment(“split across interleaves”):
    Total System Bitrate (kbps): 0
    Bytes Missing (if any):
    Number of Audio Streams: 1

    — Video Information —
Video Codec Type(e.g. “DIV3”): DIB (_RGB)
    Video Codec Name(e.g. “DivX 3, Low-Motion”): BI_RGB Raw Bitmap
Video Codec Status(e.g. “Codec Is Installed”): No Codec Required

    […] snip

    (END GSPOT)
    =============================================================
So can any one tell me what I need to do to get a video template to show up when I choose to render some part to file?
