No video in timeline
Posted by Doyal Gudgel on August 12, 2011 at 8:09 pmI’m stuck. The video does not show in the timeline. The trimmer will not show it either. It will show in the video display but not when you select display in the trimmer. Of course it is possible to edit without it showing in the timeline but that is awkward. Here is a picture of the window

Hope to see you

August 12, 2011 at 8:48 pmSomeone else had a similar problem or maybe the same but I could not find the command about thumbnails. Einstein said doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result is insanity. well I looked for the command at least 3 times. Einstein says I’m insane I guess.
Hope to see you

August 12, 2011 at 10:17 pmMy guess is that “Options – Preferences – Video – Thumbnails to show in video events” is set to “None”.

August 13, 2011 at 2:49 pmHere is a picture of what is on my screen. As you can see there is a difference between our screen shots. However I went back and set both video and preferences to default which fixed the problem. Today I set video to default then preferences to default. Yesterday I set them to default but in what order or if at the same time I don’t remember. Thanks for the help.
Hope to see you

August 13, 2011 at 4:28 pmThanks for the screenshot and your solution.
I’m using Vegas Pro which is why mine was different.
I’m positive that there’s a shortcut to blank out the timeline display but I’ve searched and can’t find it. -

August 14, 2011 at 1:27 amI have seen this same thing when I have Vegas open, and open a different program. When using another program, my video on the timeline also says “media offline”. But when I click on The Vegas program, the thumb nails show back up. This doesn’t seem to happen with Pro 10 though, I just tried it.

August 15, 2011 at 6:37 pmYes. I found a shortcut that should not have been activated.
Thanks.
