  • NO VIDEO error message on DVCPRO HD Panasonic FW Capture

Posted by Dustinn Craig on July 23, 2008 at 9:26 pm

I am trying to capture footage shot on the HDX900, shot in 24p 1080

I’m using the AJ-HD1400 Panasonic VTR.

Capturing to an E-Sata Raid 0 with express card

using a Macbook Pro 2.33 core 2 duo. 3gigs ram.
    Running FCP 6.0.4
    Mac OS 10.4.11

I’ve captured with this VTR before to Firewire800 raids in the past with no problems.

I can log and capture, and see the timecode in FCP, but upon capture, I get an error message saying that there is no Video.

Thanks if you can help me!

Make sure you have the deck set to output a 1080 signal. Look on the front. It will either say 720 or 1080…needs to be 1080. That option is in the 00 menu I believe.

I went through the whole system menu and switched up a few things that looked funny, though I don’t know exactly what combo of menu changes fixed it.

I also manually went through FCP’s capture settings and changed them one by one to the DVCPRO HD settings.

The deck was set to 1080 out to begin with.

    But thanks for the advice.

Check the System Frequency also. It can be 60Hz or 59.94Hz, I don’t know which is required for 24p, but I do know that things don’t work quite right if it you’re not in the right mode.
