Today I had to output a show on DV tape from FCP to the HVX-200 using firewire. Drov it down to the station and they loaded it up and there was no TC control track for them to lock to. It played fine but the TC just sat at 0000000 the whole time.

Is it a caera setting to allow TC to be transfered to the camera Via firewire?

See Final Cut Pro Manual, Part III, Page 184:

“Timecode is sent via an RS-422 serial port. This is not supported for DV FireWire.”

DVCPro HD is, unfortunately, required to use RS-422 for timecode out also.

I finaly got it to work. I had to put the HVX200 into a Free Run Timecode. All that comes set to off. I was use to a more basic camera that that did everything by it’s self, even if the camera laid down it’s own TC. But I got it to work and now I know for the future.

    thanks!

“Free Run” is timecode “laid down” by the camera.

Ya That I figured out as I was setting it up. It didn’t matter though. I just had to have something for them to lock to for the capture and it worked just fine.

    Thanks,
