Activity Forums Adobe Premiere Pro No Sound In Premiere Pro

I am having this problem and none of the solutions here have worked.

Specifically, sound will play in the timeline fine, but if I double-click a clip to load it into the Source monitor, it’s silent. The waveform is there, for both tracks, but no sound plays. If I select the Audio Mixer tab, the sound plays, but that seems to be playing from the timeline.

There is NO SOUND from the source monitor.

    What is going on here?

Same here. I see activity in the audio levels monitor, but no sound through my system. If I open a clip in Audition, I can hear it. All other system audio plays through whichever device I tell it to through windows. The problem lies in Premiere, and I’ve been all over the preferences, cleared them, etc. to no avail. Next up is a reinstall unless one of you can talk me out of it.

So kinda simple fix for me. I found out that my premiere pro had no .cfa file of the .wmv that had no sound displayed. So I just made a copy of the original .wmv on my desktop and renamed it. Sound’s back. I thought to check this because it was a problem I had a while ago when I was trying to save on a storage drive. Seems like Premiere has problems with instance names.
Go to search on your computer and look up ‘media cache files’ as a folder. Find the name of your project and check to see if your .cfa is listed.

Try: Edit > Preferences > Audio Hardware and check the Default Device.

The computer’s sound application will show which output is receiving the audio signal, also.

For those who still having this no sound problem in Premiere pro. I myself found one cause and a solution. If you have K-lite or maybe same app, uninstall it. I signed in to creative cow just now, just to share this to all of you. hope it works to some with the same case.

Interesting. I am on PP CC 2015.3 and simply renaming the video file allowed PP to see the audio in the file again. No I need to figure out why I can’t see any video any more in those files (I can see video in some old projects). An issue with the latest PP caching or conforming?
