Activity Forums Adobe Premiere Pro no sound

  • Posted by Chuck Paulus on September 22, 2009 at 2:01 pm

I downloaded some avi files and intend to convert to flv for my website. (I have permission). Upon importing in “Adobe Premiere Pro”, CS3, the conforming file bar comes up and finishes. The video plays but with no sound. I can load the avi file in “Ulead Video Studio 11” and it plays fine, sound and everything. I export from “Ulead Video Studio 11” to an avi file, import that to “Adobe Premiere Pro”, and I have sound. My OS is Windows 7. What’s going on?
    Thanks,
    Chuck Paulus

[chuck paulus] “I downloaded some avi files”

What kind of AVI files? AVI is a generic term meaning Audio/Video Interleaved, some have AAC audio which doesn’t play too well in CS3

According to a codec checker program I downloaded it’s “Codec4CC:MP42” and “Format4CC:MP42”. There’s other information like Bitrate 546 kBit/s, DRM No. Software MEncoder dev-SVN-r30938-4.1.1.
Under audio stream: MPEGLAYER3. Codec description: ISO/MPEG layer3 format tag.

Does that mean anything. Video has been a hobby for awhile now but most of that is new to me.

    Thanks,
    Chuck

Its probably Xvid or Divx or something similar with MP3 audio, something is made as a final codec, not made to be edited
