Final Cut Pro HD 4.5 isn’t letting me play back my clips once I put them on a timeline. I render the whole thing and it takes a long time and then every time I try to move the playhead it freezes on me and gives me the pinwheel of doom treatment. its probably my slow computer but does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix it?

Sounds like your sequence settings don’t match your clips. What type of video are you putting in the timeline? What is your sequence currently set to?

HOw slow is your computer, how slow are your drives, and what kind of drivers are you playing from? What kind of footage are you trying to play? What codec, frame rate and frame size? How’d you get the footage on the machine?

THere could be a host of problems on why you are seeing this problem, a little more info/history will help determine what’s going on with your machine.

Has this machine edited anything before? Is this problem new or old ? Are you new to FCP?

I am not new to Final Cut Pro. I’ve been using it for 2 years on the same machine and it hasn’t given me any problems until now. I captured using a firewire cable going to a mini dv video deck. I am not a computer whiz but I know how to edit so sometimes it is hard for me to answers your guys’s questions but I do my best.
