I shot a video using the HDV Handycam and i’m trying to downconvert the footage from HDV to DV for an edit. Each time i try to import footage a warning comes up saying that there is “no output image in ‘VCR HDV/DV’ Change format.” There is machine control. I can rewind, play, stop…all that. But I can’t bring in any footage. Any thoughts???

Did you setup your machine to output DV? Did you set your iLink to downconvert to DV? You need to set your machine to DV mode on the iLink as well as the video downconvert otherwise it tries to see an HDV machine outputing to DV which according to FCP doens’t jive.

you need a hardware card for HDV output, like KONA or Blackmagic.
