No image in viewfinder
I have been getting a black screen in the viewfinder during filming. All other functions work fine, film, side display image, sound, color, etc. – but no image in view finder.
The manual says something about facing the side display to face the same direction as the camera front. But I still get no image in eye piece. Is there something I am missing?

You only get an image in the viewfinder when the side LCD screen is closed. If you want images in both simultaneously, you have to go into the menu and switch this on specifically.

Thanks. Ive always filmed from the side viewer. But when I close it, now the eye piece is blank. Am I missing a setting somewhere or perhaps something else?

When you close the LCD screen is it facing inwards? i.e. you musn’t be able to see the image.

Yes. Side viewer is closed in default position. No image in eye piece.
