Well I have searched far and wide on Adobe forum and here to no avail.

Using PP2. And HVR-A1U camera. I can capture HDV just great. I can edit and all. I can do everything, DVDs, Quicktime, WM, as advertised BUT. No export to tape in HDV.

What puzzles me is that I have done it few times, but months ago.

I render everything and now when I select export to tape a window where I can click “render and record” pops up. I click on it. It starts rendering HDV for while (I am using a 5 sec. clip for test) and then it says recording, camera does nothing, for a short a while and then an “We’re sorry bla bla bla needs to close” error message appears and that’s it. Something to do with “mpeghdvexport.exe” plug-in. But that error message is very cryptic, well they all are anyway:-)

If I open an DV project and switch the camera to DV it records the timeline to tape like a charm. So firewire and camera compatibility seem OK

I have a strong feeling that the culprit, in HDV, lies in in playback settings/external device where there is no external device pull-down menu, only “none”. Whereas in DV it says there is a 720 x 480 device. In device control all is OK with Sony/standard as camera and ist says “on-line”

I have tried turning on the VCR/camera after and before turning on PP. I have tried just about every trick I have gathered in user forums. I am miffed. At this point I am considering re-installing PP and hoping for a miracle but I do not put too much hope in that option.

    Thanks for any help
