“No Deck” when connecting Sony Z1 to Adrenaline
In order to capture some HDV-footage we try to use Sony Z1 cam as device. We connect w firewire, and choose the cam in decks. But in capture mode we can’t get any signal through. We’ve tried for hours now.
Did anybody try this cam as deck device? What are we missing here? -

HDV must be captured through an additional IEEE1394 card installed in a slot in the computer. The IEEE1394 port on the Adrenaline is for DV25 IO ONLY.

Yeah, and we connected through that slot in the computer. But still no deck. I’ve got a feeling that Avid doesn’t recognize this particular device, even if it is listed. More ideas?

By “that slot” do you mean the built-in IEEE1394 connector? If so, that will not work. It must be an add-in card in a slot on a seperate bus from the Adrenaline DNA and your storage. Also, may seem silly, make sure you have the Z1 in “VCR” mode, connected and turned on before you launch the Avid software. That seems to help, sometimes, according to some older posts I have seen.

Yes, and we use an add-in card on a separate bus from the DNA and the storage and we have the cam in VCR. And we tried every to launch machines and software in every possible order and combination. And still “No deck”. We’ve also spoken to Avid technicians. To no avail.

Sony HDV AV/C Subunit driver problem solved… (long, but needs to be!)
Was curious to see if anyone else has had the following problem. Did a search on Google to discover posts from
all over the world in every language where people could not get their Sony Z1 HDV cameras and Sony HDV HVR-M25
