  • ‘No Deck’ or Capture After 5.5 Install, But Video/Audio From Deck Plays in Record Window

    Hi all,

I just installed the MC 5.5 upgrade yesterday on a clean W7 machine. The tower was reconnected to the system in the exact way as prior to the upgrade. I went to configure my deck again for a quick capture test from our Sony Beta PVW-2800, but can’t seem to get the deck online. I went into Deck Configuation settings, added a Direct Com channel, but end up with ‘Direct Com no Port’. I still added the deck based on model number and applied the configuration. I opened my capture tool, set video input to ‘Component’ and Audio to ‘Analog XLR’ as we did with our old set up. I highlighted V,A1, A2 and turned off the ‘TC’ track. Before setting the deck to ‘Remote’ I hit play and let the tape in there run. Video was streaming into the application and visible in the Record monitor and audio tool as well visible/audible through our broadcast monitor. I tried clicking ‘capture’ and it would start to initialize than a pop would indicate that no deck could be detected. I’ve configuring, reconfiguring, auto-configuring, and restarting Avid. Any thoughts?

I find it strange that the deck feed is clearly running through Avid, so why isn’t Avid acknowledging the deck? When I started up Avid v 5.5, it did indicate that the GPU driver installed wasn’t correct, but I would assume taht shouldn’t affect DV capture. Would be nice it was an easy fix like that though.

    Thanks,

    Lindsay
