  • No combination of intermediate filters could be found to make the connection.

    Hi there,

I have Vista Ultimate 64 bit edition. I am running Vegas 8.1 and I am transferring footage (via firewire) from a Panasonic Mini DV camcorder using Sony Capture 6.0. The camera detects, rewinds, asks me to name the clip and where I want to start transferring from, appears to transfer the entire tape in the hour it takes to do so and then comes up with this crap:

“No combination of intermediate filters could be found to make the connection. ”

I have reinstalled the latest direct X, downloaded a huge package of vista filters thinking this would help. Updated or checked for updates on the camera, the video card and the 1394 port and still get this error over and over. It is annoying as hell and I can’t get my footage transferred.

Additional note – I can transfer footage using the crappy windows transfer thing, whatever it’s called, but that doesn’t transfer footage the way I want it to. The options are limited.

I have been using vegas and capture for a long time…this problem is new to me, probably new since 64 bit vista.

Ideas and solutions much appreciated. Thanks!

Some piece of software on your system has disabled Vegas’ ability to capture DV. Do you have Nero installed? Nero is famous for messing with video capture and playback. Try downloading a utility called GSpot and drop a DV AVI file onto it and press the render button. It will tell you all of the intermediate filters that were used to render the video. That may give you some clue as to what software has inserted itself into the chain. These are not easy problems to solve.
