Hi Guys – I’ve succesfully imported 35 mbps footage into FCP but whenever I try to import 25 cbr. I receive a “NO CODEC” message on the proxies. Does anyone have any feedback on this? Thanks – Jay Kinghorn

We installed 5.1.2 and had no problem with the transfer software

Make sure your quicktime is 7.1.3

    Jay, I guess you’re shooting in 30p?

You’ve run across the one and only XDCAM codec that Apple don’t support yet, 25 Mb/s CBR @ 30p. XDCAM HD 25 Mb/s is basically the same as HDV and you can see in FCP 5.1.2 there are codecs and presets for HDV at 50i, 60i, 24p and 25p, just not 30p. As a result, the Sony software shows 30p is supported at 18 and 35 Mb/s VBR as you’ve found, but not at 25 Mb/s CBR.

I expect Apple just need to hear from people like you who want 30p at 25 Mb/s CBR!

Hi guys – I’ve spoken with an engineer at Sony and he has collaborated with an FCP engineer at Apple – the codec for 25 mbps 30P was left out of the current version of FCP. It should be included in the next update. So, currently FCP 5.1.2 does not support XDCAM HD at 25 mbps with a framerate of 30p – exactly as XDCAM Guy states in the previous post. – Jay

This bit me last week. I was shooting 30p to match 2 Z1s on Tuesday, the day FCP was updated. Somebody emailed me to tell me about the FCP update while I was shooting, and I was like “Oh, awesome, I’ll be able to convert this easy and hand over”

Then I got home and realized there was no codec. VERY frustrating. Talk about bad luck.
