Hi all, a newbie to the forum.

I’m using Vegas Pro 9c, and I want to split a 1 minute part from a movie (not from a cam etc). When I open it in Vegas, the video shows up/plays fine.
    – there is no audio at all, and no audio timeline.
    – the movie and audio plays fine with both VLC player and Windows Media Player.
    – the movie is .avi and .ac3 audio.

Is there a way of getting the program to open/accept the audio? I’ve been trying various ways for the past few days, and it’s doing my head in!
If I’ve not supplied enough details, please let me know and I’ll post them up.
    cheers, John

[John Faulkner] “- the movie is .avi and .ac3 audio.”

That’s your problem right there. Vegas does not support AC3 in an AVI container. You’ll need to extract the audio as a WAV file manually with another tool and place it on the timeline.

You can try a tool like AviDemux but I don’t know if it supports AC3.
