  • no AE preview with 5.2 drivers

    I have a 2.5 dual G5, running OSX.4.8.
I have an HD Decklink Pro hooked up component to a Sony PVM-14M2U monitor for video preview.

I HAD OSX.3.8, after effects 6.5.1 and Blackmagic drivers 4.8 and was able to do HD video RAM previews downconverted to SD out of after effects on this monitor.

When I upgraded to OSX.4 and After Effects 7, I lost this ability. I was still able to view animations out of Final Cut Pro 4.5 with this set-up though.

I installed the latest Blackmagic 5.2 drivers and am still not able to get a video preview out of AE7. After uninstalling and reinstalling the new driver, I got an AE error upon launch of the app that said, “Warning: Could not set Quicktime video output display mode.” What does this mean?

I have the system prefs set to output: SDI & Y,R-Y,B-Y
and Up/Down Converter output: HD to SD Anamorphic 16:9
The AE video preview pref is set to Output Device: Blackmagic Video Output and Output Mode: Blackmagic HDTV 1080i 29.97 – RGB.

I believe my setting are correct and whatever that Warning meant is the problem. Any idea how to fix this?

    Note:
I CAN see a video preview to this monitor with the 5.2 drivers and the Blackmagic Deck Control application, so this is clearly an After Effects only issue.

I CANNOT see a 720×486 NTSC preview out of AE7 with this driver.
I CAN see a 720×486 NTSC preview out of AE6.5 with this driver but NOT an HD 1080i 29.97 downconverted preview.

I have done several uninstall and reinstalls and resetting the prefs already. I have gotten some Blackmagic support and have tried all their suggestions but still have had no luck.

    Any advice is appreciated!
