We switched from an Adrenaline to this Nitris DX box some months back. We use a stupid JVC BR-HD50U for ingestion… I know I know… I’ve been trying to get my boss to upgrade this little junker for a long time so please save me the ridicule.
I use to be able to have deck control and capture through the firewire bus on the back of the Adrenaline box. It worked great. This Nitris DX box does not have firewire. So I run the deck via firewire directly into my Mac Pro’s firewire port. I have deck control but the picture does not come in. I only get a solid green screen every time I try to capture a clip.
Ordinarily I’d be capturing via an HD-SDI. HD-SDI is a great method when I do not need deck control but in this case I do. You see Avid does not “certify” this BR-HD50 deck and it will not recognize the deck by using the traditional Serial Cable/Keyspan USB Serial adapter.
Does anyone have any idea for a method to get this deck to be recognized by the Avid software?… aside from buying a new deck? Oh, and yes… I have used the deck configuration tool to no avail. Any ideas? Thanks fellow bovines.

P.S. Simple put… Is anyone using this deck with any luck with the Nitris DX? If so how, how?

Sorry about that lengthy post a few minutes ago. After some more digging, I updated the firmware on the deck, updated the drivers for the Keyspan adapter, and all is operating 5×5. Thanks.
