I need help. What should my sequence settings be for working with hd 720p 24fps .AVI files in Final Cut? I can import them fine, but it wants me to render every time i put a clip on the timeline. Any suggestions?

    Thanks,
    jared

Select all those AVI’s and open them in Compressor. From there transcode them all to ProRes using the same frame rate and size you’ve shot. Don’t edit the AVI’s directly… you’ll see no loss in this process and you’ll be a very happy camper.

I’d use LT for cuts/dissoves sort of work, Regular ProRes is better, but likely won’t see it unless you’re compositing a lot. Or ProRes HQ if you have a lot of fast action in the shots.

Use Compressor first and convert the .AVI files to Apple ProRes 422.
That’s what I do with the D3S. It works.

Oops, Jerry and I must have posted at the same time.
