    Does anyone have a simple receipe for a nice fade from black or white where the midtones ramp up/down creating a fade similar to watching a photograph develop rather than the normal bland opacity change?
    – I hope someone understands what Im getting at????

    thanks,

    Mark.

    You could try using the “gradient wipe” effect on the picture with the gradient layer set to itself (the picture layer). Set “transition softness” to like 60% – and animate the “transition completion” property.

    Brilliant technique Matt … the fades look so much better than just lowering opacity.
    Thanks =)
