Next chapter of Vegas edited video podcast up
So my second chapter in my client’s (Vegas 11 edited) project is now up at https://www.markpearsonmusic.com, called “Let Love Go Forward.” Again the technical challenges in this were that we shot with three cameras, a Canon xf305, a GH2 and a T2i. I used the multi camera editing feature of Vegas on this.
I did less well balancing the three cameras this time, not sure why. The GH2 seemed to have a much deeper response to the blue of his shirt, which I could not dial down without significantly altering other pieces of Mark. I might need to explore more on masking to get this right. But the budget does not really allow for this sort of fine tuning over hours. From the client’s perspective, it’s great.
Camera 1 is the XF305, front and center. Camera right with the slider is the GH2. Camera left from below is the T2i.
We have been uploading to Amazon S3, but for some odd reason we can’t get my renders to work right on it. We are re-rendering in iTunes (???) to get the right format for Amazon. I’ve tried all sorts of renders to no effect. It seems to want iPad rendered only from Apple, I’m still exploring the reasons and unfortunately Mark’s support team doesn’t understand the video codec world enough to help out. At least they are re-rendering it for me (G).
I am going to hire a filmmaker friend in our area to join me next shoot, who has an XF305 like mine. I’m hoping to dial this in with similar cameras. I’d love to find a XF100 and see how it matches. Maybe I’ll spring for renting one. More on this when I figure it out. But I have too many deadlines right in front of me to spend more time on it just yet.
Feel free to comment on these, and ask any questions. I’ve been very satisfied with Vegas 11, however, the dropping of the special effects in the titling in favor of New Blue have left me struggling to shift back to 10, create the effect, render it to mxf and then add it back to 11. One of these days I have to sit down and learn N.B. for basic titling effects that I’ve had easily done on 10.
I’ve just relaunched my channel on Youtube, branding it for my production company. It’s still a bit unpolished, I’m pointing clients to the actual client sites, but… You can see any of these videos there: just go to Youtube (the ones on Mark’s site will rotate weekly), by going to https://www.youtube.com/MountainstonePT/videos
