It’s been a few years since I’ve used C4D. I’m a bit rusty and just upgraded to 11.5. I want to export/render a movie out for use in Premiere Pro CS4 (D1 NTSC). I also need alpha channel. I’ve been trying different AVI settings and can’t seem to get an alpha channel or real time playback in Premiere. Any hints, tips, tricks, or tutorials would be greatly appreciated.

I would recommend rendering to a *.tif or *.png sequence. You will get an alpha, if the render crashes for some reason you won’t loose the already-rendered frames, and playback should be faster since Premier Pro doesn’t have to decompress a movie file on the fly (or load the whole thing into memory).

    Adam,

Thanks for the info. I ended up using TGA’s. I also have a Matrox RTX2 card and there is an option to convert the files into a Matrox AVI which worked really well. However, I plan on in the future updating to CS5 and ditching the Matrox card so the the information is good to know. Now I just have to learn what all this new stuff does. Thank god for 3 free months of cineveristy.
