  • Newbie Question: Program monitor zoom issue

Posted by John Gillham on November 20, 2014 at 10:15 pm

I’ve just started using PP 6.0 and what I’m seeing is the full, clear image of my clip in the preview monitor. However, after I add the clip to the EDL, what I see in the Program monitor is the center 30 or 40% of the image. I have adjusted the zoom, fit, and nearly everything else I can think of. I’ve run out of options and hope someone can help me regain my sanity. Thanks!

[John Gillham] “I add the clip to the EDL,”

An EDL is an Edit Decision List, so I’m not sure what you mean. CTI is the current time indicator. And the sequence is where we edit.

I assume you are talking about the sequence. You’ve added a clip to a sequence and now you can only see a part of it.

Try this instead: In the project pane, right click the clip and choose “New Sequence from Clip.”

Thanks! I found this same answer a few minutes after I posed the question and it took care of my problem. “EDL” is the result of a being a longtime linear CMX editor, now entering the NLE world. My, have things changed!
