Newbie Missing Audio on .AVI import to Movie Studio 9
Hi all,
I posted this originally on the Sony Vegas Basics forum and Mike K. tried to help me and he can’t view the Audio Track either in Vegas 8 or 9 ( no audio track shows when I import to Movie Studio 9 )

Again, I have a RCA Small Wonder EZ201 pocket video camera and I want to use the natively created .AVI files.
I can convert the .AVI files to .WMV first but I’m hoping to find a solution here.Running Windows 7 on Dell E1525 Laptop. AVI files play just fine in Windows Media Player and Windows Movie Maker.
VideoInspector on the .AVI file shows i’m missing the MPEG 1 or 2 Audio Layer 1 Codec ( whatever that means … I couldn’t find the audo codec on the web ).

The fact that it plays fines means that you have the audio codec installed, it’s just that Vegas isn’t expecting to find MPEG audio in an AVI file.
I would try using Avidemux 2.5 to just convert the audio to PCM wave. Set the video to just copy so that it doesn’t get processed. This may solve you problem.

Thanks for the suggestion but I don’t think it worked or I didn’t do it right ( not familiar with Avidemux ).

OK, most Xvid AVI files I’ve come across use MP3 audio. I would try that next. Just like you did before but choose MP3 (lame) and see if that works.
