newbie import mxf question
Hi, this is my first time importing hd footage on my fcp system. On set, a tech had downloaded from P2 card onto a harddrive then imported into FCP. I lost the FCP files, but still have all the raw footage pulled over from the cards. I have been trying to reimport this into final cut and have not been able to do it.
Does anyone know how to pull the footage in and convert it?
would appreciate any tips

also, I may be missing the LastClip.txt file. assuming this could be the problem?

File > LOG AND TRANSFER…and navigating to the CONTENTS folder not working?
What is happening? And…you say that the LASTCLIP file is missing? Sheeesh…why do people throw these out? And is the folder still called CONTENTS…or was it renamed CONTENTS #1 or CONTENTS 14B-2 or something. because the folder HAS TO HAVE the basic CONTENTS name or it won’t work.
here is a somewhat dated, but still relavent tutorial…on a few levels.

What happened was that the tech on shoot pulled 10 cards onto an external hard drive, then imported into final cut in a separate partition on the same drive. the partition with the imported data seems to have a malfunction, leaving me with the raw files on the other partition. These files are in 10 folders named Card 1, Card 2… the LastClip document is missing.
Based on what you wrote, I renamed the Card 1 folder Contents and did a log and transfer and all the clips showed up in the window and I could go thru the footage! So that is a good thing! but for some reason, only two of the really small clips imported.
Could it by my system can’t handle the data? I have a dual 1.25 g4 now. in a few days I will have two dual 3.0s in a new G5, so if its a system issue I can wait for that.
