(Newbie) Clip All It’s Own
I’m attempting a time remap to a 9 minute master clip (though marked in 00:50 – out 01:13).
The problem is that the 45 degree arc in the time remap is stretched on the whole 9 minute clip making fine tuning speeds for my 23 second clip impossible – it is such a shallow arc I either put the clip at a stand still or have it regular speed, not the fast to slow ramp I had in mind.
How do I make the marker in/out (and only in/out) its own seperate clip so I can do the time remap (so the :50 starts in the bottom left hand corner and the 1:13 ends in the top right hand corner)?
It should be easy but my brain has already overloaded and I cannot find it in the manual (making a new master clip from timeline etc, etc)

Make a subclip from the master – if you have marked the in and out on the master, this will only have the short duration. Beware – the new subclip will have no extra frames either side of the in/out for transitions.
However, if you put the clip in timeline and modify it from there, you will get the same result – without the above problem.
BTW – expect to be flamed for newbie questions here. I believe they now have a http://www.creativecalf.net expecially for this purpose, where you may play in safety.

Judging your time remapping by only using the angle of the time graph, means you have not grokked how to use the tool. The best way is to use the speed tool and trust the tool tip that pops up. The subclip idea is not bad, but IMHO–long clips are always trouble to remap. Log and batch capture individual takes for best results in speed affecting clips.
