I recently bought a used C100 mark 2. It’s a great camera and I’m slowly learning to use it properly. I hope that it’s ok to ask a newbie question. I searched the forum and didn’t see the question (but may have overlooked where it was already answered).

In still photography, if there’s time, people often expose to the right (i.e., increase the exposure as much as possible without blowing the highlights in order to capture as much information as possible). The exposure can then be reduced in post-processing while retaining all the captured data.

Should I do this when using the waveform monitor as well (i.e., increase the exposure so that the highlights are just below the 100 line)? When I play back the footage, it seems overexposed, but I assume that I can adjust that in post-processing on a per-clip basis. Or is it better to capture the footage with “normal looking” exposure, even if the highlights are at 80 percent instead of 99 percent?

    Thanks for your help.
