What happend?? It was there last night when I shut down. Gone today.

I HAVE done the following: 1. Restarted everything. 2. Retrieved old bins from attic and 3. thrown away msmMMOB.mdb and msmFMID.pmr. Still not there.

Problem description: All of my media are DV files I imported into Avid Xpress Pro 4.6, DV project about two weeks ago. It did its thing — imported into OMF files stashed in an OMFI directory. I’ve been working for two weeks, then suddenly today… poof, my project says media offline. But there are the OMF files in my OMFI directory, current dates! Won’t relink. I’ve hauled some bins from the attic and tried those — all those say offline media too. What happened? What do I do?

    Thanks

Could someone have renamed the folder that holds your omf files??
can you see you clips from the media tool???

  • Yes.
  • Could someone have renamed the folder that holds your omf files??

  • No. It worked last night. I shutdown. This morning media files are offline and won’t relink. But OMF files with the right date are there in the OMFI directory.
  • can you see you clips from the media tool???

  • Media tool only shows one test clip I imported today (that clips works by the way). If I enable “media files” in addition to “master clips” and “precompute clips” then I see all my omf files. But of course it says that sources cannot be loaded into monitor.
  • is this and internal or external drive, if ext. drive is it turned on???

  • External. Yes, turned on. It’s there, mounted, I can go into the OMFI directory. (Directories — two partions)
  • SYSTEM: Avid Xpress Pro 4.6, PC HP XW8000

    (Thank you>)

Try deleting the database files located in the omfi folder. Reboiot and start the avid again.Hopefulyl he scans the folder and it’s online again.

I don’t know if this happens on your system, but we use Newscutter Adrenaline with an Unity Server for media file storage. When we boot up the system, we cannot start the Avid Program until the Unity Server is fully connected. If we do, we get all of our media showing up as offline. We’ll exit the application and check the Unity Connection in the task bar. Look for an “A” with a colored square for an icon. If the square is green, you can then launch the Avid program. If it’s red, you may have a problem. If it’s a spinning hourglass, wait until it’s green square. THEN, start the program… That solves the problem for us.

As I understand it, the computer isn’t talking to the Unity drive until that connection is completed. So, it thinks the media is offine.

Thank you. No such icon/utility for such seems to be on my system. I’m thinking the drive is going bad. I wiped it out yesterday and batched everything back into the project today. Upon a restart, XP decided it had to check and fix the NTFS partition on that drive, and seemed perhaps to have truncated a bunch of file names as a result. I have two drives, but the same one is acting up like this. Oh well.

Still disconcerting to have OMF files right there, but corrupted/unrecognized by Avid.
