Is the lack of space in the “D” Drive causing Vegas to crawl to a halt? Or am I clutching at straws?

It could very well be. No drive should ever be at 0%. Drives perform very poorly when full. I would never run a dive more that 90% full. Try and clear off some space and defrag the drive (defrag probably won’t work until you have at least 12% free so it can move files around)
